Design a flower bed competition for East Riding of Yorkshire schools.

Sewerby Hall and Gardens has begun its search for talented children with its annual flower bed competition, of which the closing date is Thursday, 31 March 2016.

To coincide with the 80th anniversary of the opening of the house at Sewerby Hall and Gardens by Amy Johnson together with the 75th anniversary of her death, the subject for the annual design-a-flower-bed competition will be themed accordingly. The flower bed itself will include ‘A Moth For Amy’ and the design should be centred around it.

As in previous years, children from all of the East Riding of Yorkshire schools will be invited to submit a design which will then be translated into planting the flower bed located in front of the Orangery, to reflect this unique event and its ties to the local area.

In previous years, this bed has seen designs based on the Tour de Yorkshire, 300th anniversary of Sewerby Hall, the Olympics, the Diamond Jubilee and the 900th anniversary of Bridlington Priory and complements the more formal aspect of the flower beds located elsewhere in the estate.
